Emily Frances is an NYC based filmmaker. She began her career working in the art department for narrative features, and quickly rose to art directing and production designing with renowned directors such as Gaspar Noé and Rick Alverson. Later, she attended the William Esper acting conservatory, and began producing and acting in theatre (Ars Nova/Theatre Row.) She now writes and directs narrative and commercial work, both live action and animation. She holds degrees in Philosophy and Studio Art/Animation.
Emily’s filmmaking draws on her background in philosophy — her writing explores the reification of identity through possessions, and the insatiability of consumer culture and extreme wealth.
She brings her background in design and animation to her attention to detail. Design and animation clients include HBO, Vogue, Google, Casper Mattress, Funny or Die, Comedy Central, One Vote at a Time, and many more.
